Penguins are descendent from birds that could fly. When the birds became swimming experts, it became too hard for the birds to fly.Theoraretically the tip of the wing fused with their elbow overtime. They adapted to their enviremont and so now they live in the arctic and the food the eat is fish. Swimming became natural for them.
Our prediction is that with the threat of global warming, penguins will swim more often due to the lack of land and therfore spend the majority of their time in the water, decreasing the need to mantain the ability to thrive on land. However, with this they will be more open to attacks from predators such as seals and quite possibly sharks might have a new meal on the menu, increasing the need to swim faster and survive for possibly as long as a day under water without needing to breath. Over time the penguins body will adapt to the water and they will gradually lose the need for lungs as well as legs altogether, their feet will eventually turn into a tail that helps them swim faster and more efficient. Their tail will increase their speed and help them escape predators specificly such as the leapord seal.
