Penguins, pretty much only found on Antarctica and southern parts of countries nearby. Mainly a seafood eating bird, they live a lot of their lives in water. They only hunt in water and they swallow it whole. Then one time, a freak hurricane comes by and sweeps a few of the penguins off to a group of pacific islands. The island group has large cliffs so the penguins can't climb back up so those who dive off, most likely die. (or become a entirely new species but someone else can do THAT group of them.) They no longer spend about 75% of their lives in water, because they start to regain their ability to fly, so they don't even really spend any time in water. They have to adapt to an entirely new ecosystem so they learn that it's best to sleep by day and go and eat at night when it's cooler, so therefore, they became nocturnal. They gradually become more "bird-like" and their bones start to hollow out and their winds to expand in size. Their beak also gets longer so that they can swoop down and catch some fish. They adapt to many new and different foods, well to them at least, and learn to also eat more than just fish and crabs, etc. and learn to eat plants. And they still swallow their food whole, and keep their distinct "penguin colors" but those penguins, they are an entirely new species. Scientists had even proven it, because they found them and bred regular penguins with them and it didn't really work. Well that's how we think that the penguin will evolve in the next 200,000 years.
