We think that the Flying Squirrels in Asia will be hit by a huge tornado. They will be swept away to the island of Epiphytes in the Caribbean. The squirrels will then be forced to evolve to survive their new environment.
After 250,000 years, the Flying Squirrel developed gills, webbed feet and hands, and a larger bone structure. The webbed feet were needed for swimming underwater farther and more efficiently. They needed to become larger to intimidate the fish that the squirrels hunted. The squirrels received most of these characteristics by mating with evolved ducks.
If the Aquatic Squirrels were reintroduced with their flying kin, they would find major differences. Their diets and way of getting food alone would set them apart. This cycle of speciation would significantly help the Flying Squirrel to adapt to the Caribbean. They would still be able to fly and gather, but would be better equipped to survive in tropical environments.
