For our adaptation project, we decided to choose the black panther. We found three of the habitats that the panther lives in, these three are mountains, rain forests, and the savannahs. We also choose different adaptations for the habitats that the panther is and will live in in the modern days.
Rainforest Black PantherThe rainforest black panther adaptations are larger, sharper fangs and a sleeker body. The main reasons for these adaptations are the shrinking rainforests, making the black panther have to compete with more predators, with the longer and sharper fangs giving it a much stronger fighting potential, and the sleeker body makes it easier to sneak up on and dodge the predators.

Mountain Black PantherThe mountain black panther adaptations are bigger lungs, a larger chest, and a thicker fur coat. We predict that most of the animals that are a key part of the black panther's diet will adapt to move higher up into the mountains, where the black panther isn't as well adapted to hunt and survive. The bigger lungs and larger chest work hand-in-hand, with the larger chest making space for the bigger lungs, and the bigger lungs make it far more easy for it to breath in the high mountain altitudes.

Savannah Black PantherThe savannah black panther adaptations are stronger leg muscles and a larger stomach. Black panthers that live in the savannahs biggest problem is that it is much harder to sneak up on prey, and the prey are usually much faster than that of other environments. The stronger leg muscles make it a big faster, and the larger stomach lets them hold more food, so they last longer without it.

These three new black panther types eventually became considered new species.
