Research
- According to scientists, koalas have remained almost the same throughout the historical years. They have been well adapted to the local environment of Australia.
- Koalas also live in trees and eat primarily eucalyptus leaves. These leaves are very fibrous, low in nutrition, and contain a toxin that must be filtered out by the animals digestive system.
- A long time ago, koalas used to be full bears. Now they are marsupial which means a mammal of an order whose members are born incompletely developed and are typically carried and suckled in a pouch on the mother's belly.
Prediction
Our prediction is that in 200,000 years, Australia will split into half. Unfortunately, only one side will have eucalyptus trees while both halves had koalas on them. On the side with the eucalyptus trees, the koalas will stay normal and will not change. ut on the other half of Australia, the koalas will be starving to death. Later through time, the koalas on the half without eucalyptus trees will start changing their diets to meat rather than plants and trees. Their bodies will start changing. They will become much stronger and will gain bigger canines. With bigger canines they will be able to kill and eat their preys faster a Their legs will become longer so they can run faster and hunt down their predators. We also think that koalas will obtain a longer tail. Longer tails help animals run faster. When animals make sharp turns while chasing prey, their tails help them not to fall, acting like a brake. After all these times, the new evolution of koalas will be so different with the regular koala bears they will not be able to intervene and mate. They will now both be two different species.
Our prediction of the koala bear in the next 200,000 years.
